Excellent value. Very good service. Fresh food.

Our party of two visited Salty's during the mid-week in late spring around 6 PM. There were plenty of locals at the bar (usually a good sign)and the place was lively with conversation and laughter. We were greeted and seated promptly and our waitress came to get our beverage orders within a minute or two. Service was top notch even though our server Tiffany was handling all 12 tables on her own. She was quick and efficient and seemed to provide good service to everyone.

We had stopped at Salty's because of their outdoor sign advertisng a Twin Lobster special. After looking over the extensive menu we opted to stay with the lobster special and added steamed clams as an appetizer to share. The clams arrived quickly and steaming hot with a side of broth and drawn butter. The one pound order provided about 18-20 nice sized clams, plenty for two to share. The butter was the unsalted kind, which in my book lacks a bit of extra flavor, but the clams were delicious anyway. The lobster dinners include a salad, and french fries or rice pilaf. We both opted for the fries. Our salads were simple with a couple of grape tomatoes, cucumber slices and red onion. They were fresh and crisp and just the right size. The dressings - ranch and bleu cheese - were very good. Everything is served using disposable plates, cups and utensils with the exception of the metal shell crackers. I would have preferred a metal pick for the lobster as the plastic one was flimsy and bent easily. Once we finished our salads, our main meals were served promptly and were hot, fresh and delicious. The twin lobsters were about 3/4-1 lb each with 1 claw each (which was noted in the menu). There was plenty of tasty meat in the claws and tails. A nice touch was that each tail had been slit down the middle of the back making it easy to open up and pull out the succulent meat. The fries were crisp and brown on the outside and soft on the inside and were quite tasty. A good sized cup of drawn butter accompanied each platter and was plenty for both lobsters.

Other items on the menu included - about 20 appetizers ranging from potato skins to raw oysters; 3 kinds of chowders and lobster bisque plus a soup of the day; a variety of salads, including lobster salad; steamers; grilled hamburgers and hot dogs; deli-style sandwiches; traditional Cape dinners such as broiled scrod and baked stuffed sole; steak and prime rib; Italian specialties; lobsters steamed, baked stuffed or in spicy marinara; a traditional New England clambake dinner; and of course seafood, both fried and broiled. There is a Little Mates' children's menu, too. Non-alcoholic beverages include soda (free refills), plain or chocolate milk, iced tea, lemonade, bottled water, smoothies and root beer floats. Beer, wine and mixed drinks are also available.

The restaurant's atmosphere has a typical rustic Cape Cod feel to it. There are nautical accents on the walls and a few neon signs around the bar area. The place is not very big, with 2 booths located in the front, 12 tables arranged around the small L-shaped bar and a small outdoor screened porch with several tables. There are about 10 stools at the bar and you can order your meal there as well. The rest of the seating is simple but comfortable and there is ample space between tables. The restroom was clean and well-stocked with paper products. Salty's is conveniently located on the north side of  Route 28 about 3 miles east of the Hyannis rotary and almost directly across the street from the Mariner Hotel.

We enjoyed our visit to Salty's and would definitely recommend it  for a very satisfying meal at a reasonable price, excellent service and their friendly, and somewhat lively atmosphere.
